Preparations!

I have booked the tickets! I depart January 20, flying Burlington to Dulles to Seoul, South Korea to Beijing  to Ulaanbataar (The capitol city of Mongolia, commonly known as UB). I don't actually get to UB until January 22. I'll be picked up there by the gentleman who has arranged logistics for me living there-Amartuvshin Delger. (Apparently, in Mongolia, the person's last name is their father's name, and thus, there is no way to trace heritage back very far.)

I've been shopping/Christmas shopping for gear and other necessities for Mongolia, as well as emailing with the other Swiss teachers that have been living in Darkhan at least for this semester if not for much longer. Everyone says it is "bloody cold". Apparently, there are no public laundromats, so I will most likely have to wash my clothes by hand! :-/ Haha, I think there will be many surprising things about living in Mongolia... Apparently as far as food goes, there are lots of vegetables and fruits available in the markets and you can buy a whole sheep for cheap. So I'm bringing Herbamare and Herbs de Provence with me, to hopefully aid in the cookings... I've also started to stalk up on toiletries (I remember even in Switzerland I couldn't necessarily find the soap I wanted, so I'm definitely bringing that, among other things.) I've gotten two pairs of long underwear. Considering I might have to wash my own clothes, I'm wondering how/what clothes I should pack... I've also started accruing books to bring, in case I have down time when I'll need some English reading. Apparently there are little teaching materials for English, so I'm trying to think of materials--books and other teaching resources--to bring.

I still don't have my visa (scary!!) hopefully i'll have it before I head to Miami... otherwise things could get complicated.

Welcome!

I won't be putting up any posts until January probably, but I wanted to get this ready for when I need it...

In the meanwhile, law school apps and packing and preparation for my Mongolia adventure. ;)
